Hodges’ stay with Duke Ellington totalled some 38 years, on and off, but this album covers a twenty-year period from 1943, during which the great altoist took several sabbaticals with other groups.
The nineteen mostly Hodges or Ellington compositions were recorded in various venues, stretching from Los Angeles to Stockholm.
