The ‘Little Giant’ was the quintessential hard-bop saxophonist and a major fixture on the international jazz scene for over forty years. A consistent and inexhaustible improviser, his total command of the tenor saxophone enabled him to play at incredible speed without missing a beat.
Like many of his contemporaries, Griffin settled in France in the early 1960s and played regularly throughout Europe at festivals and clubs. Here he plays to enthusiastic audiences on three sessions at the Montmarte and Slukefter clubs in Copenhagen recorded in 1964, 1984 and 1989.
