Although her soulful singing style gained her a strong reputation from an early age, Staton never broke through to major jazz stardom.
Signed to Capitol when she was 22, she went on to make some of the best recordings for the label and ‘Dynamic!’ proved to be one of the highlights of her career.
Variously backed by a small group (including Harry ‘Sweets’ Edison) or an orchestra, she is on peak form swinging hard on a selection of great jazz standards.
